It didn't start with a business plan, but with a seventeen-year-old boy on a building site because there was nothing he'd rather be doing. Thirty-eight years later, that same man still shows up on site every day — only now not as an apprentice, but as the man who has been passing the trade on through his own company for twenty-five years. Extensions, renovations: it has become a specialism he's willing to put his name to.

His son grew up among sawhorses and building drawings, and chose — not by accident — the same path. Twenty years of experience in construction, the same carpentry training as his father, but topped off with a degree in construction engineering. That combination is exactly what he brings: the hands-on craft from home, complemented with technical knowledge of structures, materials and regulations that sharpens the way of working.

Today they work together under one roof, under the name RJ Bouwgroep: a merger of Rola Timmerwerken, the name father established twenty-five years ago, and JL Allround, through which son added his own contribution. Not two separate companies that happen to work together, but one team with two generations of insight — on every building site, in every conversation at the kitchen table, in every quote that goes out the door.

What does that mean in practice? That every project always has two pairs of experienced eyes on it. That traditional craftsmanship and up-to-date construction knowledge don't exist side by side, but go hand in hand. And that whether it's a bathroom or a complete new-build home, you're talking to people who don't just know the trade — they've been doing it their whole lives.
