An extension at the rear of the home, combined with a full renovation of the ground floor — from demolition to the very last socket, entirely realised by us.
The brief for this project was clear: an extension at the rear of the home, combined with a full renovation of the ground floor. That meant we weren't just working outside — we also created a complete opening in the existing rear facade, so the extension and the home became one. For this opening we installed a steel structure with beams and columns on piers, calculated and executed to the structural drawing — including temporary support of the existing exterior wall and upper floor while the work was underway. The opening itself was left fully open; the extension has a 5.50 metre wide uPVC window frame.
“An extension and a full renovation at the same time — that calls for a contractor who coordinates every trade themselves.”
Alongside the extension, we tackled the entire ground floor: a brand-new floor build-up with underfloor heating across the full circa 58 m², completely relocated and expanded plumbing and electrical work for the new kitchen layout, and a suspended ceiling with spotlights running through the whole living room. On the flat roof of the extension we added a 2.5 by 1 metre roof light, so daylight reaches right into the middle of the new space too.
